Based in the south east we offer specifiers, engineers and architects across the UK a comprehensive ferro scanning, analysis and reporting service.
Established in 1986 as a specialist drilling, sawing and controlled demolition company, Southern Drilling offer a range of stand alone additional services for architects, engineers, demolition, refurbishment and construction companies such as pull out testing, rebar detection and ferroscanning.
We work on a diverse range of often large scale projects such as shopping malls, airport construction, London Underground works, demolition, refurbishment and MOD projects, with our ferro scan services heavily utilised in project specifying, general concrete scanning, reinforcement location and also the nuclear industry for purposes such as ensuring the structural stability of reactor construction.
Scanning is carried out using the latest professional equipment from Hilti; a lightweight non destructive radar unit that can quick scan to identify areas to avoid through rebar and reinforcement location, or supply full 3D imaging realised data on metal or non-metallic pipework, cracks and voids in concrete up to 350mm deep.

With such a long experience within the industry our team carry a range of useful certifications such as IPAF for hard to reach places, or CCNSG and CITB to ensure robust health and safety in our work and on site. Highly mobile, the ground penetrating radar system we use is little bigger than a briefcase and easily run by a single experienced operator, so we can reach sites and locations across the UK quickly and easily.
